BYD (002594.SZ) supplies Uber with electric cars for trial operation
BEIJING, Mar. 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. taxi and ride-sharing service provider Uber announced last Saturday it had inked an agreement with China's leading new energy vehicle maker BYD (002594.SZ) and had involved BYD's electric sedan into its business for trial operation, the Xinhua-run China Securities Journal reported on Monday.
Uber said the trial operation was started several weeks ago in Chicago, and the company planned to expand it into more U.S. cities to increase its business scale on the low-end car rental market with electric cars.
The U.S. car seller Green Wheels USA acted as the seller of BYD e6 electric cars in the cooperation between BYD and Uber. It also builds charging piles in the U.S. for BYD. (Edited by Li Xiaoyu, Lixy@xinhua.org)
