BEIJING, Mar. 10 (Xinhua) -- SSE 50 ETF options that started trading on February 9 posted steady performance during its first trading month.

Statistics from Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) show that a total of 64 SSE50ETF options contracts had been traded on the Shanghai bourse by March 9, with daily premium turnover at 23.5 million yuan.

By March 9, altogether 1,943 accounts had participated in the options trade, of which 1,827 belonged to individual investors and 116 to institutional investors.

China Securities Journal quoted an unnamed source as saying on Tuesday that the Shanghai bourse was planning to lower thresholds for investing in options at the end of March, including relaxing limits on positions and purchase of options, reducing commission fees for trading options and loosening restrictions for account opening.  (Edited by Li Xueqing, lixueqing@xinhua.org)
