Shanghai Gold Exchange posts gold transactions of 18,486 tonnes in 2014

BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) saw gold transactions of 18,486 metric tons (tonnes) in 2014, making it the largest spot trading market for gold in the world for the eighth consecutive year.

In particular, transitions of Au99.95 and Au99.99 totaled 3,316 tonnes in 2014.

Meanwhile, the international board of the SGE saw accumulative transactions in 2014 of 190.55 tonnes worth 45.452 billion yuan.

The SGE launched the gold international trading board on September 18, 2014. It is the first international financial asset transaction platform launched in the Shanghai free trade zone (FTZ).  (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
