CNOOC Ltd. sees 1st bitumen production from Canada's K1A project
BEIJING, Dec.8 (Xinhua) - China-based offshore oil producer CNOOC Ltd. (CEO.NYSE; 00883.HK; CNU.TSX), Monday announced the first production of bitumen from Kinosis 1A (K1A) project in Canada's Alberta.
As a stream-assisted gravity drainage facility, the K1A project consists of steam-generating equipment, well pad facilities, 37 well pairs as well as water and bitumen flowlines, said a releaser by CNOOC Ltd.
K1A project is designed to produce 20,000 barrels of bitumen each day and would play a significant role in filling Long Lake plant.
Bitumen produced from K1A project is processed and upgraded at Long Lake plant, which has an operating capacity of around 72,000 barrels per day.
Working the operator, Nexen ULC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC Ltd., has 100 percent interests of the projects. (Edited by Liu Yanan, email@example.com)
