BEIJING, Oct. 31(Xinhua) – China produced 351.727 metric tons (tonnes) of gold in the first three quarters of 2014, up 14.27 percent from a year earlier, according to the China Gold Association (CGA) on Friday.

Of the 351.727 tonnes of gold produced in the first three quarters, about 282.462 tonnes were from gold mines, up 11.58 percent year on year and 69.265 tonnes were a by-product of nonferrous metal smelting, up 26.73 percent from a year earlier.

In 2013, China produced 428.163 tonnes of gold, an increase of 6.23 percent from the previous year, according to CGA.

China has become the world's largest gold producer for seven years in a row, said the association.   (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
