China Southern Airlines carries 1.65 mln passengers during Oct.1-7
BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) - China Southern Airlines (ZNH.NYSE; 01055.HK; 600029.SH), the country's largest airline by fleet size, said on Wednesday that it operated more than 11,000 flights and carried over 1.65 million passengers during China's National Day holiday from October 1 to 7, both making a new record high.
During the seven-day holiday, more Chinese tourists traveled abroad.
For instance, international flights of China Southern Airlines increased by 21 percent year on year in the seven days and the related passengers carried exceeded 220,000, up 20 percent from the same period of last year. However, the number of passengers on domestic flights increased merely four percent.
The airlines carried an average of 210,000 passengers each day during the holiday, 20,000 more than the same period of last year. (Edited by Luo Jingjing, email@example.com)
