China H1 gold output up 9.47pct y-o-y to 211.073t, association
BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) – China produced 211.073 metric tons (tonnes) of gold in the first half of 2014, up 9.47 percent from a year earlier, according to the China Gold Association (CGA) on Wednesday.
Of the 211.073 tonnes of gold produced in the first half, about 169.051 tonnes were from gold mines, up 6.15 percent year on year and 42.022 tonnes were a by-product of nonferrous metal smelting, up 25.22 percent from a year earlier.
In 2013,China produced 428.163 tonnes of gold, an increase of 6.23 percent from a year earlier, according to CGA.
China has become the world's largest gold producer for seven years in a row, said the association. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, email@example.com)
