BEIJING, Apr. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday released standards for copper smelting industry to contain low-level repeated construction and improve energy saving.

Under the new standards, new copper smelting projects and projects for renovation, as well as secondary copper companies, are required to have an annual capacity of more than 100,000 metric tons (tonnes). Capacity of the existing secondary copper companies must not be less than 50,000 tonnes/year.

Industry insiders note that the release of the standards for copper smelting industry will accelerate the consolidation and leading companies will benefit from the new standards. Investors can focus on companies, including Jiangxi Copper (600362.SH; 0358.HK), Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group (000630.SZ), Yunnan Copper (000878.SZ), Zijin Mining Group(601899.SH; 02899.HK) and Jingcheng Copper (002171.SZ).  (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
